ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline put Orlando riders back on the rails Thursday, restoring trips toward West Palm Beach after floodwater in Brevard County forced a multi-day pause.
High water along the right-of-way knocked out the Orlando-to-West Palm Beach schedule beginning Monday. The company kept the suspension in place while workers checked track, signals and crossings.
Trains returned only after levels dropped, repairs wrapped up and Florida East Coast Railway signed off on the corridor. Company crews worked that clearance alongside Brevard County Emergency Management.
South of West Palm Beach, the Miami run never stopped, so riders still reached Aventura, Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton during the outage.
Brightline said it reached out to people whose tickets were disrupted and pointed everyone else to the mobile app and website for up-to-date departure boards.
Parts of Brevard saw rainfall near two feet, a rare deluge that also damaged roads, homes and storefronts across several Florida counties.
Safety for passengers and employees drove the decision to wait for a full inspection before selling seats again on the flooded segment.
Travelers between Orlando and the Treasure Coast should still double-check times for a day or two, because flood restarts often leave short-term schedule tweaks in place.
Officials framed the pause as temporary infrastructure work rather than a longer network cut, and they said the southern half of the system stayed fully available for Miami-bound riders throughout the week.
