Charleston, South Carolina – UCF Women’s Golf Starts Strong with Fourth-Place Finish at Cougar Classic

The UCF women’s golf team kicked off their season successfully by securing a fourth-place finish at the Cougar Classic held on September 8-9. Competing at the prestigious Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, the Knights completed the tournament with an impressive score of four-under par.

Beginning the tournament in fifth place, the UCF team made a strong showing by achieving a two-round score of 10-under par after the initial rounds. Their performance demonstrated the team’s promise as they look forward to a competitive season.

Individual Highlights

Individually, UCF saw notable performances from several players. Sophomore Molly Smith and junior Pimpisa Sisutham both tied for 12th place overall, each finishing with a score of two-under par. Smith displayed exceptional skill, firing a bogey-free 70 in the first round and maintaining consistency with a score of two-under par in the second round. On the other hand, Pimpisa Sisutham achieved back-to-back rounds of 71, further contributing to the team’s overall success.

Tiffany Tsai, a redshirt freshman, also made a mark by recording an outstanding score of 69 in the opening round. Freshman Kinga Kusmierska initially scored 72 in the first round but improved considerably in the second round, finishing with a score of 68. Sophomore Mila Jurine displayed resilience, shooting a score of 68 in her second round after a less favorable first-round score, ending the tournament ranked 34th overall. Tsai ultimately finished in 42nd place, while Kusmierska placed 49th.

Upcoming Competitions

The UCF women’s golf team aims to build on their strong start as they prepare for their next competition at the Schooner Invitational, which is scheduled to be held in Norman, Oklahoma, from September 20-22.

Last season, the Knights recorded seven top-5 finishes, marking their sixth consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.
