News Summary

Sincere Edwards, a promising addition to the UCF football team, makes an impressive entrance by performing a nostalgic dance move in front of his teammates. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end transfers from Pittsburgh to be closer to home. Ranked as a top prospect, he aims to enhance UCF’s defense while balancing his commitment to football and fatherhood. Edwards’ journey highlights his ambition to elevate the team’s performance and foster a strong support system as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Orlando, FL – Sincere Edwards, a new addition to UCF’s football team, made an unforgettable introduction by performing “the Worm,” a dance move that gained prominence during the 1970s and 1980s, in front of his teammates. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 240 pounds, Edwards transferred to UCF from the University of Pittsburgh primarily to reduce homesickness and be closer to his family.

As a four-star prospect from Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida, Edwards was highly regarded in the football community. He was ranked as the No. 26 defensive end prospect and the No. 45 overall player in Florida for the upcoming 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. Initially, he committed to UCF back in 2023, but later signed with Pittsburgh for the 2024 class. After a single season with the Panthers, he decided to enter the transfer portal and ultimately joined UCF in January 2025.

During his freshman season at Pittsburgh, Edwards participated in 13 games, showcasing his skills on the field with 17 tackles, six of which were for loss, and three sacks accumulated over 349 defensive snaps. His performance was strong enough to attract interest from numerous programs, but it was UCF coach Scott Frost’s phone call after he entered the transfer portal on December 30 that significantly influenced Edwards to switch teams.

Upon joining UCF, Edwards expressed that returning home not only benefits his personal life by allowing him to be there for his family but also helps alleviate the stress that impacted his initial college experience. He believes this support system will enhance his performance on the field, motivating him to contribute effectively to the UCF Knights’ defensive lineup.

Edwards holds ambitious goals for the UCF defense, aiming for it to be recognized as a unit that is fast, physical, and aggressive. He stresses the importance of making opposing teams anxious about facing UCF on the field. He also believes that their defensive strategy, particularly against fast-tempo offenses, can be advantageous, as it would tire out opponents in the sweltering Florida heat.

As he integrates into the UCF team, Edwards joins a defensive unit rich in experience, highlighted by veterans and other new transfers such as Horace Lockett, Rodney Lora, and Aymeric Koumba. The collective aim is to elevate the team’s performance following a disappointing 4-8 season, which led to significant changes within the program, including the addition of over 69 new players since the return of coach Scott Frost.

Edwards reflected on his journey and acknowledged the significance of his spiritual growth throughout the transfer process. This period has reinforced the importance of family in his life, especially as he embraces parenthood with his 9-month-old son, Sincere Jr. This new chapter at UCF not only marks a pivotal moment in his athletic career but also underlines his commitment to balancing his responsibilities as a father with his ambitions on the football field.

As Edwards begins his journey with the Knights, the anticipation is high among teammates and fans alike for how his skills and experiences will impact UCF’s ambitions in the upcoming football season.
