Orlando – A tragic accident on Tuesday afternoon has left a 20-year-old Orlando man dead after his motorcycle was struck by a SunRail train in southern Orange County. The collision occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on the railway tracks at the intersection of Intermodal Way and Central Florida Parkway.

The deceased motorcyclist was riding a Honda motorcycle and had reportedly stopped while facing east on the tracks. He was subsequently hit by a train traveling southbound. Following the impact, the motorcycle caught fire, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

At the time of the incident, there were 58 passengers aboard the SunRail train, along with three crew members, including the conductor. Fortunately, none of the passengers or crew reported injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has commenced an investigation to understand the events that led to the collision.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been disclosed, as authorities await notifications to next of kin. In response to the crash, the scene was handed over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the accident, SunRail implemented service changes, including the cancellation and delay of several trains. A bus bridge was organized to transport passengers between the Sand Lake Road and Poinciana stations during the disruption. Train services were restored to normal operations by 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, with updates regarding the situation communicated via the social media platform X.
