An Orlando man, Miguel Angel Hichez, was arrested at the JW Marriott hotel for battery on a law enforcement officer and assault on a security officer. The incident began when Hichez entered a female guest’s room uninvited, leading to a confrontation with hotel security. Despite the security team’s efforts, Hichez displayed erratic behavior and aggression towards law enforcement, ultimately being sedated for medical evaluation. His bail is set at $4,000 while he awaits legal proceedings.
Orlando – An Orlando man, Miguel Angel Hichez, was arrested on Monday at the JW Marriott hotel after being involved in a bizarre and aggressive incident that included allegations of battery and assault. Hichez is facing charges for battery on a law enforcement officer and assault on a security officer during the encounter.
The authorities responded to the hotel located on Central Florida Parkway after receiving reports of a felony incident. Hichez’s actions escalated to a point where he has been detained, and his bail is set at $4,000.
The incident unfolded when a female guest, reportedly waiting in her hotel room for room service, answered a knock at her door. Upon opening it, she encountered Miguel Angel Hichez, who entered the room without her consent. The situation took a frightening turn when Hichez allegedly attempted to grab the victim and expressed an unwelcome sentiment before she screamed, pushing him out of her room.
The victim confirmed she did not give Hichez permission to enter her room, prompting a nearby security guard to investigate after receiving reports of someone entering a guest’s room uninvited. When the security guard confronted Hichez, the man became aggressive, attempting to strike the guard on the face. The security guard successfully evaded the attempts, and with the help of the security director, they were able to restrain Hichez until law enforcement arrived.
Upon the arrival of the Orange County sheriff’s deputies, Hichez displayed erratic behavior, making threats and attempting to fight hotel staff. As police were escorting him to a patrol car, Hichez kicked a deputy in the right shin, which contributed to the charges against him. Medical personnel were called to the scene due to Hichez’s escalating aggressiveness, and he was transported to Dr. Phillips Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
While at the hospital, Hichez continued his aggressive behavior toward the emergency medical team, leading to him being sedated for proper care. After regaining consciousness, he claimed to need a refill for medication, but the staff deemed it necessary to complete a Baker Act form, which allows for involuntary psychiatric evaluation and treatment for individuals who may be experiencing mental health crises.
Hotels like the JW Marriott implement comprehensive security measures for the safety of their guests. Staff is trained to respond quickly to potential threats or disturbances, making them equipped to handle the variety of situations that can arise in hospitality environments.
