A community meeting held recently at the school’s auditorium provided updates to students, families, and staff about the highly anticipated project, which aims to create a customized environment for gifted students.

The planned renovations will take place on a 9-acre site and will be designed to accommodate up to 800 students. The new facility is expected to open its doors in 2028. School board member Stephanie Vanos emphasized that the current facilities, built in 1948, require substantial upgrades to meet modern educational needs. The new design will incorporate sustainability features, modern infrastructure, and state-of-the-art science labs, ensuring that students have access to the latest technology and learning environments.

As part of the renovation plan, students from Orlando Gifted Academy will temporarily relocate to the Orange Technical College Winter Park Campus this summer while construction is underway. Construction is slated to begin in December 2026, with the goal of completing the project by summer 2028.
