Orlando – A 30-year-old man, identified as Jason Wilfredo Rosario, also known as “Joc Hip Hop,” was arrested on Friday following a violent incident that occurred at Grumpy’s Underground bar on August 31. Rosario faces serious charges after allegedly stabbing a patron ten times during a confrontation over a bar tab, leading to significant injuries to the victim.
The altercation began inside the bar when Rosario and another man engaged in a verbal disagreement about a bar tab. Witnesses reported that tensions escalated, prompting both men to exit to an alley behind the establishment.
As the two moved outside, the situation turned physical. Witness accounts confirmed that punches were exchanged before Rosario produced a knife and attacked the other man, inflicting multiple stab wounds. The altercation drew attention, and a woman flagged down police on August 31, shortly after the incident occurred, indicating that someone had been stabbed.
The victim returned to the bar severely injured, suffering from stab wounds to his head and face, along with seven deep puncture wounds to his back, according to hospital reports. After the stabbing, Rosario did not return to the bar. Following the incident, the victim was able to identify Rosario as his attacker.
On the morning of September 3, a woman approached the police at 1018 N. Mills Avenue around 5:36 a.m. with blood on her hands, reporting that someone had been stabbed. While she did not witness the attack, she mentioned hearing a physical altercation and noted that another man had brushed past her, stating there had been a stabbing.
Rosario was taken into custody by investigators who tracked him down after the police inquiry began. He is currently being held at the Orange County jail without bond, facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder with a weapon.
According to Amanda Fields, the owner of Grumpy’s Underground, Rosario was not a paid employee of the bar but had undergone training with them occasionally. Fields noted that Rosario had not exhibited violent behavior in the past and expressed her concern for public safety in light of the recent events.
The incident has sparked discussions about safety in nightlife venues, with many local residents calling for increased security measures and better monitoring of patron interactions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Crimeline, a service that encourages community members to report suspicious activities, is offering a hotline for citizens to report crime anonymously and may provide cash rewards for tips leading to arrests.
This incident highlights the potential for conflicts in nightlife environments to escalate dangerously and serves as a reminder of the need for increased awareness and measures to ensure safety for all patrons in such establishments.
