News Summary

Orlando has achieved a significant milestone with the MICHELIN Guide’s recognition of 59 restaurants in its upcoming guide, including nine starred venues. This acknowledgment showcases the city’s vibrant culinary landscape, driven by substantial investments from local organizations. As Orlando continues to enhance its reputation as a dining destination, the impact of these awards is anticipated to attract food enthusiasts and boost the local economy.

Orlando has garnered significant recognition from the MICHELIN Guide, with the announcement of 59 restaurants being included in its 2025 guide. This marks a major milestone for the city’s culinary scene, as it reinforces Orlando’s growing status as a dining destination. Among the highlighted venues, there are currently nine starred restaurants, including the prestigious two-MICHELIN-star restaurant, Sorekara, located in Baldwin Park.

The inclusion of these restaurants is a culmination of efforts by local tourism and dining advocates, particularly through the initiatives of Visit Orlando, the city’s tourism marketing agency. Since September 2021, Visit Orlando has invested over $800,000 aimed at attracting MICHELIN inspectors to evaluate the region’s diverse dining options. This funding was part of a detailed 19-page “business collaboration agreement” made public by the Orange County comptroller.

Orlando’s journey toward MICHELIN recognition began earnestly around 20 years ago when the guide expanded into the U.S. Initially, Florida was overlooked until partnerships were established with Visit Orlando, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Visit Tampa Bay in 2022. These efforts have been complemented by additional promotional tactics, such as featuring the city in Netflix’s travel food series “Somebody Feed Phil” for an investment of $500,000.

As a result of the MICHELIN partnership, experts predict that the organizations involved could generate more than $1 million in media content related to the region’s dining landscape over a span of five years. Furthermore, Visit Florida, the state’s tourism agency, has also contributed $750,000 over five years to enhance the promotion of Florida’s culinary offerings.

The importance of the MICHELIN recognition extends beyond the star ratings themselves. It plays a crucial role in enhancing awareness about the quality and diversity of dining options available in Orlando. The methodology used by MICHELIN inspectors, which has been in place since 1900, ensures a consistent and high standard for restaurant evaluations. Despite the influence of destination marketing organizations, they do not have any control over the selections made by the restaurant inspectors.

Orlando’s culinary scene has been characterized by its talented chefs and unique dining experiences, which has been recognized by many food enthusiasts and critics. The newly added venues in the 2025 edition include notable restaurants such as Sorekara and ÔMO by Jônt, both of which have received esteemed star ratings. Additionally, the inclusion of restaurants like Bánh Mì Boy and Smokemade Meats + Eats showcases the continued growth and diversity of culinary offerings in the area.

This increased recognition by MICHELIN symbolizes Orlando’s ascent as a distinguished food haven, attracting not only local patrons but also food enthusiasts from across the state and beyond. The expansion of MICHELIN listings in Orlando is indicative of the city’s vibrant and evolving dining scene, where innovation and creativity among chefs and restaurateurs continue to flourish.

In summary, Orlando’s culinary landscape is now officially recognized on a global stage, thanks to strategic investments and an array of talented chefs pushing the boundaries of dining experiences. The city’s burgeoning status as a culinary destination is a reflection of its distinctive and flavorful offerings, poised to entice both locals and visitors alike.
