Honda Vehicle Recall Notice
Honda has announced a recall impacting over 259,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential brake pedal safety issue. The recall specifically involves models such as the Honda Pilot, Acura TLX, and Acura MDX from various production years. The problem arises from improperly secured brake pedal pivot pins, which could lead to brake malfunction. While the NHTSA has identified this issue, Honda assures that only a small percentage of affected vehicles may experience this problem. The company is committed to resolving the issue through free inspections and repairs for affected owners.
Honda is taking a proactive step by recalling more than 259,000 vehicles in the United States over a concerning brake pedal issue. This recall affects several popular models, including certain Honda Pilots from 2023 to 2025, as well as 2021-2025 Acura TLX and 2023-2025 Acura MDX vehicles.
The root of the problem lies in how the brake pedal pivot pin was secured during production. In some vehicles, this pin may not have been properly installed, which can cause the brake pedal to shift out of position. This condition can potentially affect the driver’s ability to stop or slow down the vehicle when necessary.
Drivers may notice an abnormal brake pedal feel while operating the vehicle, which could be disconcerting. Additionally, the brake malfunction light on the instrument cluster may illuminate unexpectedly, and some drivers may find that their brake lights remain lit even when they are not pressing the brake pedal. All of these symptoms suggest that there could be an issue with the brake system that needs immediate attention.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified this issue in a recent recall report and Honda is addressing it head-on. The company estimates that only about 1% of the affected vehicles may have this problem, but safety remains a top priority for both Honda and the NHTSA.
Dealer notifications for the recall began on June 13, and Honda plans to start mailing out owner notification letters on July 28. This gives vehicle owners a chance to quickly remedy the situation, as it is crucial for everyone’s safety on the roads.

Between February 2024 and June 5, Honda received just three warranty claims related to this brake pedal issue. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries related to the problem. Honda first started investigating the brake pedal concerns back in April 2024 following a report of a vehicle experiencing this very issue.
The investigation revealed that the faulty brake pedal assembly originated from a supplier’s U.S. plant that has since been closed. In response to these findings, Honda has shifted production to a facility in Mexico. Now, a camera sensor is utilized to ensure that the pivot pin is correctly installed, helping to prevent similar issues in the future.
