Orlando, FL – The Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Class of 2025 celebrated the graduation of over 1,250 students on May 27, 2025, at the Addition Financial Arena at the University of Central Florida. The event drew thousands of attendees, including students, family members, friends, and supporters from various locations across Florida.

Among the graduating class, more than 20% earned summa cum laude honors, highlighting the achievements made through this innovative and flexible learning environment. FLVS is recognized as the only fully virtual public school district in Florida, offering a unique educational experience that caters to diverse student needs.

The ceremony featured the top five graduates who held impressive GPAs of 4.6 or higher, showcasing the effectiveness of online education. Additionally, 91 students were inducted into the National Honor Society, while 51 graduates completed over 250 hours of community service. The commitment to academic excellence was further demonstrated by 40 graduates who earned the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) and 16 who were part of the Spanish National Honor Society. Furthermore, 15 graduates received either an Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree through the FLVS dual enrollment program.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Louis Algaze, the president and CEO of Florida Virtual School, who emphasized the accomplishments of the graduates, comparing them to the school’s mascot, the Firebird. During the event, Linda Reiter, chair of the FLVS Board of Trustees, encouraged graduates to dream boldly and to take initiative in shaping their futures. Felix Walther, the Class of 2025 Top Scholar, also spoke about the importance of self-growth and the possibilities that lie ahead.

As part of the ceremony, the FLVS Foundation awarded four scholarships of $1,000 each to students who demonstrated exceptional leadership and resilience. The recipients of these scholarships were Makani Bugarin from Southeast Florida, Donelle Grone from Sarasota, Samantha Ramirez from Deltona, and Jenna Ruedy from Largo.

Approximately 750 of the FLVS students received diplomas during the graduation ceremony, representing a wide range of geographical areas from the Panhandle to the Keys. This gathering highlighted the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the students, reflecting the inclusive nature of Florida Virtual School.

FLVS Full Time continues to redefine education by providing flexible, high-quality learning experiences that are supported by certified educators. Families can look forward to applying for enrollment in FLVS Full Time Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year, with applications opening on June 2, 2025. With a commitment to fostering academic growth and personal development, FLVS stands as a testament to the power of choice in education.

The graduation of the FLVS Class of 2025 marks not only an important milestone for each graduate but also highlights a commitment to innovative educational practices that cater to a diverse student population.
