The success of this year’s events underscores the power of collaboration and local leadership in fostering sustainable solutions for Florida’s environmental concerns.

Jacksonville, Florida – The fifth edition of Florida Climate Week (FCW) took place from October 6 to 12, 2025, organized by the VoLo Foundation. The initiative attracted over 1,800 participants who engaged in 83 free events across the state, including both virtual and in-person sessions, and aimed to strengthen local resilience while advancing solutions to pressing climate challenges in Florida.

Throughout the week, a total of 32 virtual sessions attracted over 600 online participants, while 51 in-person events engaged more than 1,200 attendees statewide. The programming addressed a range of critical issues, including extreme heat, stronger storms, coastal restoration, transportation, and biodiversity. Activities included expert-led webinars, hands-on cleanups, youth activities, and initiatives related to the circular economy.

Specific efforts were concentrated in various regions. The City of Jacksonville hosted a public kickoff along with a week of community events aimed at anchoring efforts in North Florida. In Central Florida, initiatives focused on e-waste and textile recycling, particularly in Orlando. Coastal partners coordinated beach cleanups from Vero Beach to Jupiter, showcasing a concerted effort to address local environmental concerns.

The critical role of local governments was highlighted with 18 official proclamations issued by mayors and other local authorities, declaring October 6–12, 2025, as Florida Climate Week in their respective jurisdictions. The initiative emphasized the importance of local solutions, spearheaded by individuals who understand the specific climate risks present in their communities.

Florida Climate Week events spanned across all major regions of the state, successfully showcasing local challenges alongside science-based solutions. The VoLo Foundation reiterated its mission to empower communities through knowledge, collaboration, and actionable climate progress.

The next major event in this initiative is the Climate Correction™ event scheduled for March 10 and 11, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. Those who wish to access discussions and presentations from Florida Climate Week 2025 can do so through the VoLo Foundation’s YouTube channel where all online events are available for free.

The significance of municipal leadership was underscored throughout the week, especially in light of funding cuts at state and federal levels, reinforcing the need for local action amid changing climatic conditions. Engaging activities, such as community cleanups and educational workshops, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to combat the climate challenges faced by Floridians.

As Florida continues to grapple with the impacts of climate change, the successful collaboration evidenced during Florida Climate Week 2025 serves as a crucial stepping stone toward achieving sustainable solutions and fostering community involvement in environmental stewardship.
