Escambia County Celebrates Completion of New Fiber Internet Network
Escambia County, FL – A significant milestone was reached on November 26, 2024, as Conexon Connect announced the completion of a new 2,000-mile fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network. This successful project was carried out in partnership with the Escambia River Electric Cooperative (EREC) and now provides high-speed internet access to over 12,000 members of the cooperative. This development marks Conexon Connect’s sixth completed fiber network across the country.
Investment in Rural Connectivity
This extensive fiber network spans across both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, aiming to connect rural residents who have historically faced challenges in accessing fast and reliable internet. Collectively, these partnerships represent a broadband project investment exceeding $260 million and contribute to the construction of nearly 9,000 miles of fiber, reaching over 70,000 rural Floridians.
