On June 14, the “Pop Up” Plant Clinics will provide expert gardening advice at two locations: the Winter Garden branch of the Orange County Library System from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and Apenberry’s Nursery from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, an Adopt-A-Tree Program will take place on June 7 at Barnett Park, offering Orange County residents the chance to receive up to two trees per household, available from 8 a.m. to noon. Proof of residency is required.
Those interested in fitness can join the Mid-Florida Milers Walking Club, participating in a 10K or 6K walk at Disney Springs on June 7, starting between 8:45-9:30 a.m. There will also be a supportive Grief Forum for individuals coping with the loss of a spouse, running every Tuesday from June 10 to July 29 at the Presbyterian Church of the Lakes between 5-6:30 p.m.
The League of Women Voters Orange County will hold an event titled “Pride Under Attack: Defending LGBTQ+ Rights” on June 11 at 11:30 a.m. at the Winter Park Events Center, charging $30 for members and $37 for nonmembers. Following this, the Philippine Independence Day Celebration on June 14 at Marks Street Senior Recreation Complex from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will include festivities for a $5 entry fee.
A Juneteenth Freedom Day Paint Party is scheduled for June 14 at Howell Branch Preserve from 10 a.m. to noon, with a participation fee of $25. The Juneteenth Community Celebration on June 21 at Charlie Mae Wilder Park offers free admission from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., encouraging community engagement in honoring this significant day.
Families can partake in Summer Family Tours at the Morse Museum of American Art, available on June 17 and 24, as well as July 8 and 15, offering guided tours with art activities. Additionally, the Orange Audubon Society will celebrate the winners of its nature photography contest on June 19 at Harry P. Leu Gardens. Outdoor enthusiasts can attend the Orange County 4-H Teens in the Kitchen Day Camp for $25 on June 19 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Sports fans can visit the Baseball Card and Memorabilia Show happening at Bahia Shrine Center on June 20 and 21. On June 21, the Seventh Annual Phrozen Jewel 5K Walk/Run will be a hybrid event with in-person participation, encouraging community health and fitness.
The upcoming Independence Day Open House at the Morse Museum of American Art will take place on July 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission. The Fourth of July Block Party at Bill Breeze Park in Ocoee will begin at 5:30 p.m. and culminate in fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Various ongoing community programs will also highlight activities including weekly aquatic activities at Eatonville Community Pool and beginner clog dancing classes at the Beardall Senior Center, alongside meetings and support groups for local outreach.
