Young golfers preparing for the tournament.
Golf fans are eagerly anticipating the return of 16-year-old Charlie Woods at the Team TaylorMade Invitational from May 25-28. After a challenging hiatus from public tournaments, he aims to showcase his talent and progress. Following a competitive year, including a memorable second-place finish at the 2024 PNC Championship, all eyes are on Charlie as he joins fellow athletes in a highly competitive event, hoping to demonstrate his potential in the world of golf.
West Palm Beach is buzzing with excitement as local golfing sensation Charlie Woods, aged 16, is all set to make his much-anticipated return to the golf scene at the Team TaylorMade Invitational scheduled for May 25-28. After a three-month break from public tournaments, golf enthusiasts across the region are eager to see how the young talent performs as he aims to follow in the illustrious footsteps of his father, Tiger Woods.
Charlie Woods has not been off the radar completely, as he’s been competing in U.S. Open qualifying events. However, his last public tournament was at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Championship back in February 2025. Unfortunately, his qualifying journey has seen some challenges—most recently, he fell short on May 5, failing to make it past the first round for the second year in a row. At his last event, held at Wellington National, Charlie finished with a score of 3-over-par, which wasn’t enough to progress to the second stage.
Despite these recent setbacks, Charlie gained immense recognition last year during the 2024 PNC Championship, which took place in December at the stunning Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Teamed up with his father, Charlie made headlines by finishing second after a nail-biting playoff against renowned golf legends Bernhard and Jason Langer. One of the highlights of that event for Charlie was hitting his very first hole-in-one, an accomplishment that undoubtedly adds to his growing legacy.
Tiger Woods expressed his pride in his son’s achievements, noting the steady improvement Charlie has shown since turning 15. Consistently getting better at every aspect of the game, Charlie is proving that he has what it takes to carve out his niche in the competitive world of golf. The camaraderie developed while competing alongside his father has been instrumental, giving Charlie valuable insights into the sport.
During the memorable PNC Championship, Charlie even managed to outplay Tiger for a significant portion of the game, leading to growing speculation about his potential as a future golf star. Tiger jokingly mentioned that although Charlie hasn’t yet bested him over 18 holes, he believes that day is coming! Charlie has plans to pave his own path in the golfing world, focusing on his journey rather than merely replicating Tiger’s legacy.
Currently, Charlie is a sophomore at the Benjamin School and is on the approved registration list for the upcoming Team TaylorMade Invitational. He’ll be joining fellow student-athletes, including Brooks Colton and Giuseppe Puebla, in a competitive field of 72 players. This 54-hole, invitation-only event has become a highlight on the local golf calendar, having been hosted annually since 2021 at various captivating venues such as Jupiter Hills Club and The Country Club at Mirasol.
With the Team TaylorMade Invitational on the horizon, the golf community in West Palm Beach is eager to see how Charlie Woods performs after his brief hiatus. Will he display the skills and determination that have sparked so much excitement? Golf fans are undoubtedly holding their breath as they look forward to this exciting chapter in Charlie’s young career. After all, every golfer has to start somewhere—and for Charlie, that moment could be just around the corner.
