Clermont and Winter Park, Florida—Florida Blue Centers will be organizing two upcoming community-focused “Back to School” events on Saturday, August 2, from 10 am to 1 pm. These events are designed to support local families as they prepare for the new school year by providing essential supplies and family-friendly activities, and they are open to everyone in the community.
At both locations, attendees can expect to receive free backpacks and school supplies, with a limit of three per household while supplies last. Additionally, licensed barbers will be offering free children’s haircuts to help kids get ready for school. The Clermon event will include the added benefit of free sports physicals, which require an RSVP to participate.
In addition to distributing essential items, these events aim to create a festive atmosphere with a range of interactive activities for children, as well as healthy refreshments and snacks for families. Important information and community resources will also be made available to assist students and their families in planning for the upcoming school year.
Notably, participation in the events does not require a Florida Blue membership, and they remain free and accessible to all community members.
The Clermont event will take place at the Clermont Center, located at 2601 South U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, FL 34711. Interested parties can reach the center by calling 352-242-6800 for more information.
Meanwhile, the Winter Park Center is located at 434 N. Orlando Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789, and can be contacted at 321-441-2020.
Additionally, the city of Groveland is organizing its annual Back 2 School Backpack Bash on July 26 at the Nathaniel Community Gymnasium, starting at 10 am. This event will provide free backpacks and school supplies while supplies last.
The Mascotte Police Department is similarly involved, organizing its 4th Annual Back 2 School Bash Backpack Giveaway on July 26 from 10 am to 12 pm at Mascotte Charter School, where free backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed.
The community is encouraged to get involved by donating school supplies to support these and other Backpack Giveaway events across various locations. Contributions will help ensure that all children are well-prepared as they head back to school, fostering a sense of unity and support among local families.
As these events approach, families are advised to mark their calendars to take full advantage of the available resources, supplies, and fun activities. These initiatives exemplify the community’s commitment to supporting children’s education and ensuring they have the tools needed for success in the upcoming school year.
