The North Florida women’s golf team recently capped off an impressive performance at the Evie Odom Invitational held at the stunning Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on October 18, 2025. The competition was fierce, but the Ospreys proved to be a formidable force throughout the tournament!
Strong End to the Tournament
The course, which is a par 70 and stretches across 5,824 yards, challenged many talented teams. However, it was redshirt junior Kaitlyn Schroeder who rose above the rest, leading her squad not just in the final round, but all tournament long. In her last round, Kaitlyn showcased her skills by racking up an impressive 2-under 70 score, marked by seven pars and four birdies over her last 13 holes!
Top Performances of the Team
Schroeder’s exceptional performance throughout the event landed her in second place overall, boasting a final tournament score of 2-under 68. But she wasn’t alone in her success! Teammate Brianna Castaldi also shone brightly, tying for 15th place with a score of 1-under 69. Meanwhile, Mohea Mansbendel tied for 19th with a solid score of 2-over 72.
Others on the team included Ava Cottis, who fared well, tying for 53rd place with a score of 3-over 73, and Helen Zhou, who tied for 63rd with a score of 6-over 76. Their performance collectively placed the North Florida Ospreys in a commendable 5th place overall with a team score of 2-over 282.
How Did the Competition Shape Up?
In total, 12 teams participated in the event, showcasing a wide array of talent. The team standings saw Maryland and Penn State tied at 14-over, while Georgia finished with a score of 19-over. South Alabama placed at 24-over, closely followed by our Ospreys at 25-over, and Coastal Carolina at 27-over.
Other teams included Furman at 35-over, Colorado State with 38-over, UNC Greensboro and James Madison tied at 42-over, while Old Dominion, the host team, finished at 48-over followed by Richmond at 50-over.

The Director of Golf, Scott Schroeder, shared his enthusiasm regarding the tournament. He emphasized how three players performed remarkably and hinted at the importance of continued hard work for future competitions.
