Residents are encouraged to assist authorities with any information regarding the incidents.

Florida – A man was shot in the chest in Florida City on the morning of June 3, 2025. The incident took place at a residential location on 924 Southwest 6th Place. Florida City Police received reports of the shooting and quickly responded to the scene, where they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Fortunately, he was alert at the time of their arrival. The victim was subsequently transported to Jackson South Trauma Center for medical treatment.

Investigators identified a woman as the primary suspect in the shooting, who fled the scene with a firearm. Authorities have stated that an active investigation is ongoing to locate this individual and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The shooting adds to a troubling trend of gun violence in Miami-Dade County, which has seen several shootings over the past weeks. Just days prior, on May 24, another shooting occurred in Florida City, resulting in the death of a man named Christopher Shannon Allen. In that case, a 19-year-old named Jaylen Lavar Fisher was arrested and faces charges including one count of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

The incident involving Allen took place near the 1400 block of Northwest Second Court, where he was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later transported to a medical center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigators collected seven spent .40 caliber shell casings from the crime scene. Witness accounts identified Fisher as the shooter, who was allegedly armed with a firearm equipped with a blue or green laser. During questioning, Fisher invoked his right to legal counsel, and the motive for the quarrel that led to Allen’s shooting remains unclear. As of June 3, he is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

On the same day as the shooting incident in which the man was shot in the chest, another shooting occurred involving a 15-year-old boy. This incident was classified as a drive-by shooting on Northwest Fifth Avenue, during which the teenager was shot in the leg. He was promptly rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital for medical attention. A neighbor witnessed the event and reported that the shooter’s gun jammed initially, which potentially prevented more severe injuries. The gunfire struck the neighbor’s home, posing a serious risk to other family members who were outside at the time.

In light of the increasing gun violence in the community, Florida City Mayor Otis T. Wallace has called for stricter gun laws to address the problem. Additionally, police officials have indicated there are currently no suspects in custody regarding the shooting involving the 15-year-old boy.

Community members are urged to assist law enforcement by reporting any information they may have concerning the recent shootings. They can do so by contacting Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, with potential rewards available for credible information leading to investigations.
