Orlando, Florida – A series of traffic incidents across Central Florida resulted in injuries and road closures, significantly affecting local commutes early this week. A man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Monday morning on Wakulla Way, while a separate incident involving a semitrailer shut down parts of Florida’s Turnpike over the weekend.

The first incident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. on Monday when the man was hit on Wakulla Way at Tampa Avenue in the Oak Ridge area of Orlando. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed that the victim suffered serious injuries and is currently in critical condition. In response to the accident, officials have established a partial roadblock along Wakulla Way to facilitate the investigation.

In a separate crash that transpired early Friday, a semitrailer and a truck towing a boat collided near Okahumpka, leading to the closure of the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike. Although minor injuries were reported from this crash, details surrounding those injured have not been disclosed. During repairs, traffic was managed by utilizing the inside shoulder of the highway. The roadblock on the Turnpike was eventually cleared, and the crash is still under investigation by authorities.

Another severe incident unfolded early Monday with a deadly crash on Interstate 4 (I-4). This accident, which occurred south of Conroy Road, involved two vehicles and tragically resulted in one fatality at the scene. Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames following the collision. The Florida Department of Transportation indicated that traffic is being diverted around the area, while the I-4 express lanes remain open for use. Drivers heading west of downtown Orlando have been advised to access the I-4 westbound express lanes, with the last entrance before the crash being at Michigan Street. Following the accident, two of the left lanes on I-4 were later reopened.

Additionally, a two-car crash on Friday morning on South Goldenrod Road caused injuries to four individuals. The mishap occurred shortly before 9 a.m. when a 2025 Hyundai Sonata, driven by an individual who failed to notice a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban ahead, collided with the Chevrolet. This impact caused the Chevrolet to veer off the road and collide with a traffic sign. All four injured were taken to local hospitals, and among them, two were issued trauma alerts. South Goldenrod Road was temporarily closed as a result of this crash. As of now, the current condition of those hospitalized remains unknown, and their identities have not been released. The FHP is actively investigating this incident.

Traffic safety is a significant concern as these series of crashes highlight the potential dangers on Central Florida roads. Authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and cautious while navigating local highways and streets, particularly in areas prone to collisions.

As investigations continue into these various incidents, updates are expected from law enforcement regarding the conditions of those injured, as well as any further findings related to the crashes.
