News Summary

Orlando is set to welcome the Outpost Neighborhood Tavern, a vibrant new social space at 227 N. Eola Drive. Founded by John Teixeira and Devon Tillman, the tavern will provide a Southern-inspired menu and a commitment to inclusivity. Supported by the City of Orlando’s DTO Restaurant Program, the outpost aims to foster community engagement and offer recreational activities. With an opening slated for next week, the venue plans to serve dinner initially and expand to include brunch options, enhancing the local social scene.

Orlando – The Outpost Neighborhood Tavern is set to open soon at 227 N. Eola Drive, with an anticipated launch next week. This new tavern will occupy the space previously held by Persimmon Hollow Brewing, marking a significant change for the Lake Eola neighborhood.

The Outpost is the brainchild of John Teixeira and Devon Tillman. Teixeira is known for managing the OUT Sports League, which boasts over 1,200 members participating in six sports and bowling. Tillman comes from his experience at Island Time in Thornton Park, where he was unable to renew the lease.

A key inspiration for the Outpost Neighborhood Tavern is the need for a social space for players and community members following OUT Sports games. The establishment is proudly inclusive, welcoming people from all walks of life, as reflected in their motto, “All are welcome. Just don’t be a bitch,” which will be featured on merchandise such as T-shirts.

To support this initiative, the City of Orlando has granted the Outpost $84,000 through its DTO Restaurant Program. This funding will assist with essential startup costs, including plumbing and drywall, as well as rental relief for the crucial first year. The launch of this program is part of the city’s efforts to foster small, independent dining and drinking establishments in the downtown area.

The Outpost will serve a menu of Southern-inspired comfort foods. Patrons can expect offerings like fried chicken, burgers, mac and cheese, hushpuppies, and fried okra. The tavern will also provide a wide selection of beers for guests to enjoy. With seating for about 200 guests, the venue will include both indoor and outdoor spaces, complete with flat-screen televisions for sports fans.

Initially, the Outpost will exclusively offer dinner service, with plans to eventually roll out brunch options, including a new drag brunch experience. In addition to dining, the tavern will provide recreational activities such as cornhole and darts, promoting community engagement and social events.

Intended to serve not only the Lake Eola community, the Outpost aims to be a gathering place for neighboring areas such as Thornton Park and Colonial Town. Its focus on fostering connections and inclusivity is central to the overall vision for the tavern.

For those interested in the latest developments regarding the Outpost Neighborhood Tavern, updates will be available on their official website at outpostorl.com and across various social media platforms.

As the Outpost prepares to open its doors, it stands ready to become a vibrant addition to the downtown Orlando social scene, ultimately bridging gaps between diverse communities in the area.
