UCF football players showcasing new uniforms featuring Knighted Eras typeface

News Summary

The University of Central Florida (UCF) has revealed major updates to its Nike football uniforms, showcasing a new typeface called ‘Knighted Eras’ and design elements that honor pivotal moments in the program’s history. The updated jerseys include features like oversized Pegasus wings, shoulder numbers, and a triumphant black and white color scheme. As UCF prepares for the upcoming season, these uniform enhancements aim to inspire both players and fans, while paying homage to the legacies of past players. The changes are set to bolster team identity as they enter the Big 12 conference.

Orlando, FL – The University of Central Florida (UCF) has unveiled significant updates to its 2025-26 Nike core football uniforms, continuing to pay homage to the program’s rich history. The new uniforms were revealed on Tuesday and will feature several design elements that honor pivotal moments within UCF’s football legacy.

A standout feature of the new uniforms is the introduction of a new typeface called “Knighted Eras.” This font is characterized as “bigger, bolder,” and is inspired by notable moments that helped define the UCF Knights football program. It includes a unique drop shadow that pays tribute to the 1998 season, during which former quarterback Daunte Culpepper achieved a top 10 finish in the Heisman Trophy voting, marking a significant milestone in the program’s history.

The updates are not just limited to aesthetics; they also incorporate nostalgic elements from past seasons. The notches in the design are reminiscent of the 2013 season’s “Block Knights” wordmark, which was prominently featured in UCF’s Bounce House end zone. The jersey numbers, now reflecting styles utilized from 2016 to 2021, have been designed to be larger and bolder. The incorporation of shoulder numbers, which were last used during the same period, enhances the overall look of the uniforms.

Incorporating elements from previous designs, the new jerseys will feature oversized Pegasus wings, a design element drawn from the 2023 Mission VII Space Uniforms. The numbers on the uniforms will utilize the Knighted Eras font and include Polaris star perforations. The pants will also feature three Polaris stars, symbolizing UCF’s past, present, and future.

These enhancements will be built on the Nike Vaporr F.U.S.E. template, which is widely used across various college and NFL teams. UCF has been partnered with Nike since spring 2010, following an eight-year alliance with Adidas. A recent five-year contract extension ensures that Nike will continue to supply uniforms, equipment, and apparel through the 2028-29 academic year.

Since the arrival of Coach Scott Frost in 2016, UCF has significantly expanded its uniform options, developing an impressive variety of 64 different uniform styles. This includes various color combinations such as black, white, gold, anthracite, and pewter, enabling the team to showcase its identity in numerous ways.

UCF’s new home uniforms will showcase an entirely black color scheme, while the away version will be all white. The unveiling of these uniforms signifies an effort to celebrate the program’s history while contemporizing the look for current and future seasons. The changes acknowledge key moments from the program, particularly the legacies left by both Daunte Culpepper and Blake Bortles, further embedding UCF’s narrative into the uniform’s design.

Looking ahead, UCF is also set to reveal its Knightmode and Space Game uniforms in the near future. This release is anticipated to generate excitement among fans and players alike as they prepare for the upcoming season.

However, UCF enters this new chapter with a challenging performance history in the Big 12, holding a 10-15 record over the last two seasons. As the Knights prepare to don their updated uniforms, they hope that the fresh look will inspire both players and fans as they strive for better performance on the field.
