St. Petersburg, Florida – St. Petersburg police apprehended 22-year-old Ja’quavius Daniels on Thursday night related to a home invasion that resulted in the death of one suspect and injuries to a homeowner. The home invasion incident unfolded at approximately 2 a.m. on April 16 in the 3400 block of 40th St. N.

During the confrontation, the homeowner discharged a weapon, injuring one of the intruders, 20-year-old Marcel James Williams. Subsequently, Williams was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Following the incident, Daniels voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement and is now facing a felony murder charge due to the circumstances surrounding the home invasion.

In unrelated incidents on Thursday night, police reported that two teenagers were shot in separate occurrences. The first shooting occurred around 9 p.m. in the 1700 block of 15th Avenue South. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the foot, while a 16-year-old boy suffered injuries to his lower body. Thankfully, their conditions have been classified as non-life-threatening.

As of now, authorities have not detained any suspects in relation to this shooting incident, and investigations are ongoing. The St. Petersburg Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward by contacting 727-893-7780 or texting SPPD followed by the tip to TIP411.

Additionally, earlier in the week, on Saturday night around 11 p.m., a tragic shooting claimed the life of 13-year-old Jaden Hill from Largo. He was found suffering from gunshot wounds on 11th Street South and was declared deceased at the hospital shortly after being discovered by police officers. Reports indicate that shots fired during this incident originated from an unknown vehicle, and police are actively pursuing leads to identify the shooter. The specific model of the vehicle involved remains unknown.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is diligently seeking information related to Hill’s death and has called upon the community to assist in providing any pertinent details or eyewitness accounts.

As violence involving firearms has been a growing concern in many communities, these recent incidents underscore ongoing public safety challenges. Officials are hoping to increase engagement from community members in order to address these violent occurrences effectively.

Efforts to enhance safety and community trust are of utmost priority to local authorities. In light of these serious incidents, residents are reminded of the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in reporting any suspicious activities to law enforcement.

In summary, the recent spate of firearm-related incidents in St. Petersburg raises awareness about the dangers of gun violence and the need for community collaboration to protect its members.
