ORLANDO, Fla. — Veterans and anyone else hunting for work can sit down with hiring managers from more than 20 Central Florida employers on Tuesday, Nov. 10, when CareerSource Central Florida holds its yearly Paychecks for Patriots fair in Orlando.

Orange Technical College hosts the fair at 2900 West Oak Ridge Road, Building 1600, with doors open 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event honors people who served, but organizers say the fair is open to every job seeker, not only military families.

The employer list mixes public agencies and big private names. Among them are the City of Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Lynx Transportation, Valencia College, The Walt Disney Company, Rosen Hotels and Resorts, JPMorgan Chase, Massey Services and Trustco Bank.

Organizers are reaching out to veterans in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter counties, including service members who are just leaving the military and spouses looking for a new position. The workforce agency describes the day as a chance to meet and interview with employers that are ready to hire.

Hiring managers will be looking across a range of fields, from hospitality and banking to public safety, transit and education. Job seekers should carry several printed copies of a resume and come ready to network and interview on the spot. Staff will also point veterans and their families toward community support programs.

For people leaving active duty, the agency frames its veteran work around turning the skills, experience and leadership learned in uniform into a civilian career, while giving local companies a pipeline of trained workers. CareerSource Central Florida takes questions about the event at 800-757-4598.
