ORLANDO, Fla. — UCF pulled off the biggest win in program history Saturday night, beating second-ranked BYU 39-31 in double overtime in Orlando as students poured onto the field.

Quarterback Keyone Jenkins settled it in the second extra period when he hit tight end Grayson Brousseau for a 2-yard score, and the Knights added the two-point try. BYU answered by reaching the 4-yard line of the Knights, but Bear Bachmeier’s fourth-down throw fell incomplete and the celebration began.

It was the Knights’ first victory over a top-five opponent, and they did it as underdogs of more than a touchdown. UCF improved to 4-3 and 2-2 in Big 12 play, while BYU fell to 6-1 a week after beating Notre Dame.

Regulation ended in chaos. Jenkins appeared to fumble in the closing seconds, but a replay review changed the call to an incomplete pass and a BYU penalty moved UCF into field goal range. The Cougars blocked Will Stone’s 47-yard try, and because Stone’s helmet came off on the play, a 10-second runoff sent the game to overtime tied at 24.

Both teams scored in the first overtime, with Jenkins finding Josh Derry from 25 yards out to make it 31-31. In the second, a roughing-the-kicker penalty let UCF wipe off a field goal and keep the ball, and the Knights cashed in with the touchdown.

Jenkins, making his fifth start in place of an injured Alonza Barnett III, passed for 293 yards and three scores while adding a rushing touchdown. Tyren Hornes caught six passes for 137 yards and Duke Watson ran for 94. UCF next hosts Baylor in its annual Space Game on Friday night.
