ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida gets one more dry, sunny day on Friday before a weekend pattern change brings clouds, scattered showers and stronger wind, with the roughest conditions along the Atlantic beaches east of Orlando.

Friday starts comfortable, with morning lows mostly in the low 60s, and warms to highs in the upper 70s to low 80s under plenty of sun. A stray sprinkle cannot be ruled out near the Brevard coast, but most of the region stays dry for Friday night plans.

Low pressure forming off the Atlantic coast changes the picture on Saturday. Forecasters put the chance of scattered, hit-or-miss showers at about 40% to 50%, so the day will not be a washout, and highs should again reach the low 80s. Nights turn milder, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Sunday looks drier, with rain chances near 20%, but the wind picks up. Gusts at the coast could reach roughly 40 to 45 mph over the weekend, and the surf will turn rough and pounding, with rip currents posing a serious danger to swimmers. Officials along the coast want beach visitors to keep out of the ocean until conditions settle.

The breezy pattern carries into the start of next week. Unusually high king tides on Monday and Tuesday add to the threat of coastal flooding and more beach erosion, while highs stay in the low 80s. Wind and rain chances should ease by the middle of the week.

Inland, Orlando-area residents can expect a breezy but mostly manageable weekend, with the best outdoor windows on Friday and Sunday afternoon. Anyone heading to the coast should check beach flags and local advisories before getting in the water.
